After going through the results of the survey I sent out, (if you haven’t answered the one and only question, you can still do so HERE) I learned that most of my subscribers have a wealth of knowledge and would like to translate that wealth of knowledge into wealth in their bank account!
So, here are some ideas to get you started:
Consulting: The word “consulting” used to make me think of a bunch of people wearing power suits at a Fortune 500 company.
But consulting can be so much more casual than that.
If you have specialized knowledge in a particular field, you can offer consulting services to individuals or businesses. This can involve providing expert advice, solving problems, or offering strategic guidance. You can charge clients on an hourly basis or project basis.
Personally, I love the one-on-one connection with clients that I work with, and it keeps me motivated to stay current in my industry.Online Courses: The great thing about creating an online course is that you do it once and you’re done! Other options, like speaking engagements, (which we’ll get into in a minute) require you to show up every time.
If you want an option that’s passive, online courses are a must.
Pro Tip: Don’t waste time and money creating it yourself… get someone else to create your entire course for you! If you get someone who knows what they’re doing, you’ll have your course done in just a few days as opposed to months if you DIY.Here’s who I recommend if you want to get a profitable course:
Writing and Publishing: If you enjoy writing, you can create content based on your knowledge and publish it. You can write books, ebooks, blog posts, or contribute articles to magazines and online publications.
You can earn money through book sales, advertising revenue, or offering premium content, like what they do here on Substack!
This is a great opportunity to be creative as well. For example, I’ve published a children’s book. You don’t really think of children’s literature as being a way to get paid for your knowledge, but a good children’s book has some sort of lesson that you’re sharing with the reader. (You can check out my book HERE.)Speaking Engagements: If you have expertise in a particular area, you can become a speaker at conferences, workshops, or seminars.
To be a good speaker, you need to master the art of storytelling and engagement.
I think the best way to do this is to start small. Get used to having to simultaneously speak and monitor your audience for engagement.
I’d also put podcasting in this category as well because the same principles apply. You have to know how to speak to your audience in a way that keeps them coming back, episode after episode. Or, if you’re speaking on other people’s podcasts, you need to be so engaging that people are thrilled to have you as a guest. (Check out my podcast HERE for examples of engaging guests!)Freelancing: Do you know how to do something that most people don’t want to do or can’t do themselves? There are certain problems that people would just rather throw money at than figure out how to do it themselves, and if you can be there to “catch the money,” you can charge some pretty high prices.
People tend to brush off done-for-you services because of the amount of work that can be involved. However, if you want to charge a premium for your knowledge, freelancing can’t be ignored.
Want to know the secret to making this lucrative?
You have to think like a factory. Streamline your process so that it’s so tight and easy, you could basically do it in your sleep!
Truth be told, coming up with ways to get paid for your knowledge is pretty easy. The tricky part is finding people who value that knowledge and will pay you for it. But don’t worry- that’s exactly what I’ll cover in my next post. So stay tuned!
I’m cheering you on!

Olyasha
P.S. Are you getting paid to share your knowledge? Tell us about it in the comments!
